Youth Sailing
| Welcome to the Yacht Club of Cape St. Claire’s Youth Sailing
Program. Our program is designed to teach the fundamentals of sailing, whether you are a beginner or an experienced sailor. Sailing is a recreational as well as a competitive sport that can be enjoyed for a lifetime. The purpose of the summer youth program is to provide a safe instructional environment for an enjoyable summer of learning how to sail. At the end of the summer, each junior sailor will receive a certificate of completion and a lifetime of
friends and memories.
All the YCCSC Youth Sailing Program instructors are at least 18 years of age, are US Sailing Level I
Instructor Certified, and hold current First Aid/CPR cards. The classes are sailed in 9 program owned
420’s, a 14’ sloop-rigged sailboat for 2-3 young sailors. In addition, the staff employ 3 motorized boats for
instruction and safety. We have also 3 Vanguard and 3 Optimist prams. The pram is designed to be captained by a single, entry-level sailor.
