RC boat will set up in the vicinity of either B mark or J mark.
RC will hang course boards on rail, designating the course. If the board is red, the mark should be passed to port (left); if the board is green, the mark must be passed to starboard (right).
18:50 A white shape will be raised, and a sound signal given. This will signal exactly 10 minutes to the start.
18:54 The white shape will come down; no sound signal.
18:55 A blue shape will be raised and a sound signal given. This will signal exactly 5 minutes to the start.
18:59 The blue shape comes down; no sound signal.
19:00 A red shape is raised and a sound signal given. This is the start.
IMPORTANT: If the sound signals and the raising of the shapes are not simultaneous, you should rely on the shape, not the sound signal.
If you are over early, RC will call your boat by (some) name, and you must restart. Be sure not to foul other starting boats when returning to the starting side of the line.
If RC decides to shorten course, it will move to one of the course marks and sound two signals. You must turn off your engine at the 5 minute mark. (Failure to do so is a DSQ.) A suggestion based on our many light air Fridays is that you stay close to the starting line. There will be a 2 hour time limit on all races. RC may shorten by moving to next mark
