Time to bore ya’ll with the latest going on (and yes I know I use to many commas when I write).
Bad news first
I’m out for the season with a bum transmission; delays and slips going into forward. Warranty work to be sure, but a ‘several week’ delay just to get a hopeful schedule slot. Maybe I can cobble something together.
That means there is a hole in the Friday Night Race Committee schedule about two hulls wide – volunteers send email to or call Scott soon.
That also means that the Raft Up August 16th at Swan Creek is missing your favorite Catamaran; Mike will likely not be able to make it either due to work commitments so the Club needs a Raft Up Captain. Someone needs to step up and email or call Mike Juras or me real soon.
Good news time.
The youth sailing race last Friday had its usual excellent turnout with a river full of boats. Nightingale and Oras once again showed us Friday beer can bashers how to sail the bouys. I’m sure from the number of water balloons and squirt guns that a lot of fun was had by the kids as well.
Rumor has it there might be a protest resulting from the race. I won’t name names, but if Scott and Brad (oops) want to lodge a protest I will remind them that YCCSC procedures are to bring a case of beer to the next event and I will adjudicate by taking the beer and considering their complaints for several seconds (at least). That event is the August 2nd Picnic at Mike and Amy Juras’ – at 2pm.
Make sure the beer is cold, and not budget brand.
Smart bribers, I mean protesters, will note I drink Gosslings Black Seal Rum :)
I don’t mean to make light of a possible serious situation. Friday night racers should remember that the Wednesday night guys follow more exacting rules. Wednesday night folks remember we don’t know all your rules and might not react as you would think. Keep it safe (and clean) out there for the kids is the rule of the day. :)
See you on the water
